EB-2 NIW: how to organize information for the first meeting.
If you started researching EB-2 NIW, you may have found lists of degrees, letters, and professional achievements. Before you gather files without a plan, organize a clear view of your background and of the work you intend to do in the United States.
Explain your background in a sequence that can be understood
Prepare an updated résumé and a summary of the most relevant experiences. Include roles, activities, and results you can explain and document. The point is to let the professional understand your context and identify what deserves a closer look.
Describe the work you intend to do
Organize an explanation of your professional goal: what you intend to work on, which problem you want to address, and what experience you have related to the project. Separate plans that are still early from initiatives that already have results or documentation.
Map documents without assuming that all of them will be needed
Make an inventory of what you have: education records, professional history, work, and other relevant evidence. You do not need to send everything on the first form. The team will say which materials should be reviewed and through which channel.
Bring questions about the process and the service
Ask which points need further review, what the consultation covers, and how continued work would work. If you receive a proposal, check the scope and the difference between fees, official costs, and third-party expenses.
Preparation does not mean approval
An organized consultation helps the professional understand the case. It does not turn a list of documents into a guarantee of classification or result. The NIW has its own requirements within the EB-2 category and depends on an individual review.
